Truthfully after seeing that the Britax Roundabout 55 convertible car seat is on sale on Amazon.com I decided it was time to write a review about this top selling car seat. With so many reviews and such a great price I wanted to delve more into this convertible car seat and see what is so special about Britax Roundabout 55.

Britax is known for its safety features in their car seats and the Britax Roundabout 55 is no different. The car seat is designed to provide optimal head safety using the advanced features of the Britax Safecell technology, versa-tether and the integrated steel bars. It offers 360 degree protection by shielding your child, minimizing the forward movement and absorbing the crash impact during a collision.
Britax safecell technology
The Roundabout 55 is suitable for children from 5-40lbs rear facing and from 20-50lbs forward facing. It is designed to grow with your child and comes with the 5 point tangle free harness that can easily be adjusted as your child grows to the higher positions.
It reclines in both the rear facing and forward facing positions.
Comfort
The Britax Roundabout 55 convertible car seat is extremely comfortable for both baby and child. Britax has used high density comfort foam. Extra padding is found in the back, the shoulder pads, the cushion and even a pad for the buckle between the legs so that baby doesn’t get pinched or rubbed. It does not come with a head support but that can be purchased separately.
For babies 5-11 lbs a separate infant posioning insert is recommended (sold separately). The material on the cover is soft and is easy to remove in order to wash it. The cover is made from 100% polyester which some users have noted tends to become hot and can cause baby to sweat a bit.
Easy To Install
Very easy to install with the Latch system and it is very easy to switch from rear facing to forward facing by using the “Non-handed” lower Latch straps. The easy installation is attributed to the Latch system and this would be a great car seat to have for grandparents.
Harness straps are easy to tighten and loosen and are replacable.
The Britax Roundabout 55 convertible car seat does not take up a lot of room rear facing in comparison to other convertible car seats, therefore if you have a small car this convertible car seat could be a great option for you. Also if you are a tall parent who needs the leg room in the front seat.

The Roundabout 55 is not heavy when compared to other car seats. It can also be taken on the airplane.
The frame is made from metal not plastic.
One drawback of the Roundabout 55 is that it does not have bubble indicators to tell you if you have installed it at the right angle and you may need to roll up a towel to get that perfect fit, (that is one of the advantages of the Chicco Nextfit with its 9 reclining positions and double bubble indicators.)
